SAN FRANCISCO - Kid Cudi, known for his distinctive atmospheric and emotionally-gripping live performances has just finished the first leg of a new US tour supporting his Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven album, complete with a moody and evocative lighting design by Brett Lorins that centers on Robe moving lights. The rig included 10 MMX Spots, 12 LEDWash 300s and two LEDWash 600s with the MMX Spots being the main workhorses. This core touring package was complemented by some house lights at each venue. The lighting package was supplied by TERI Productions, coordinated by Jay Coatney and Jason Murphy.

  Brett has worked with the artist for five years and coordinates both lighting and video aspects of his live performances. He's been a big advocate of Robe for the past 6 or 7 years

Ryan Adams has returned to the road to support his new self-titled album. LD Brett Lorins is working with the artist, starting with a few one-off shows with his band, The Shining. The fall tour kicks off Sept. 8 in Washington, DC, taking in U.K. and Canadian dates along with U.S. tour stops until Nov. 19. Among Adams’ one-offs was a performance Aug. 13 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Lorins’ role on the tour will be “a bit of everything: lighting design, direction, programming, and help with set/production design. Ryan has an overall look he’s going for, and we’re still hashing out details like video and so on.”

The Design: “Martin Phillips’ set, lighting and video design was inspired by the band’s overall aesthetic, and designed with their custom performance MIDI interface called ‘The Blade’ in mind. While there are no ‘traditional’ instruments on stage, the band is playing their music live. Music goes from powerful anthemic sounds to beautiful string sounds and dark, moody melodies. The lighting and video complement both extremes."
